Its official now. Windows 7 RTM has been signed by Microsoft. The final build string would be 6.1.7600.16385.090713-1255, which we had previously shared here. Check out our launch schedule to find out when you would be able to download the RTM or pick it up at a retail stores....

As we are getting close to the Windows 7 RTM, numerous builds are being touted as final. The only common grounds between them are the build number – 7600. It seems like Microsoft has decided to name the final build as 7600, which kind of reminds me of Windows XP build 2600! Anyways....

It seems that a lot of people are still pitching the leaked build 7600 as RTM. Microsoft had clearly stated on the Windows Team Blog that they haven’t yet signed the RTM build. So the build 7600 is just another leak, at best....

There seems to be a lot of buzz going around right now that Windows 7 has finally hit RTM. Not only that, the latest build has already been leaked onto the inter webs. The build string says that the version was compiled on July 10, 2009 - which seems to be on par with Microsoft’s schedule....
